Redfern Legal Centre acknowledges the importance of the confidential relationship between solicitor and client that extends to everyone employed by or volunteering at the Redfern Legal Centre.
Staff and volunteers must maintain a duty of confidentiality, including the non-disclosure of any information obtained in an manner or in any form during the course of their duties at the Redfern Legal Centre; and
Without limitation, carry out any client interviews, other discussions or meetings in a confidential manner, including carrying on any necessary case discussion relating to a client, with a staff member or other volunteers, in a confidential environment within the Redfern Legal Centre.
RLC is an extremely busy centre, and is often the first point of contact for people in NSW seeking legal advice. The Centre has a steady stream of inquiries and requests, both by phone and in person. On each evening advice session 10 face-to-face and telephone interviews are conducted.
Daytime advice sessions are also heavily booked, with between 4 to
10 face-to-face interviews being conducted each session.
