Policy of Confidentiality

Redfern Legal Centre acknowledges the importance of the confidential relationship between solicitor and client that extends to everyone employed by or volunteering at the Redfern Legal Centre.

Staff and volunteers must maintain a duty of confidentiality, including the non-disclosure of any information obtained in an manner or in any form during the course of their duties at the Redfern Legal Centre; and

Without limitation, carry out any client interviews, other discussions or meetings in a confidential manner, including carrying on any necessary case discussion relating to a client, with a staff member or other volunteers, in a confidential environment within the Redfern Legal Centre.

The Centre conducts a number of policy and community development projects, including:

  • Community Legal Education (upon request)
  • Law reform, and policy work and campaigning

RLC is active in a number of local, statewide and national campaigns and networks, including:

  • NSW Combined Community Legal Centres' Group;
  • National Association of Community Legal Centres;
  • NSW Council of Social Service;
  • Inner City Domestic Violence Action Group;
  • Youth Justice Coalition;
  • Tenants' Union;
  • Inner Sydney Regional Council for Social Development ;
  • South Sydney Community Aid Multicultural Neighbourhood Centre;
  • South Sydney Interagency;
  • Redfern-Waterloo Family Violence Task Force;
  • Attorney-General's Apprehended Violence Legal Issues Coordinating Committee;
  • Financial Counsellors' Association of NSW;
  • Public Housing Issues Working Party;
  • Tenancy Legal Working Party;
  • Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal Consultative Forum;
  • Domestic Violence Court Users Committee at Downing Centre Local Court; and
