Training

Successful applicants from the interview will be invited to an induction night that will give them an introduction to the aims and philosophy of the Centre.

Once placed on a shift, volunteers will attend a small group training session that will cover:

• Telephone skills, basic communication and interpersonal skills.
• Office protocol, using Centre resources such as the desk manuals, cultural sensitivity, working with interpreters, use of client info sheets and data collection.

In addition, volunteers are expected to attend other training workshops organised from time to time.
